Summary: Your MT4 account history holds every closed trade. This guide shows how to access history, filter by custom date ranges, and export data to build an equity curve chart.
Step 1: Open Account History in MT4
Launch MT4 on your desktop. Click the “Account History” tab at the bottom of the Terminal window (Ctrl+T to show Terminal if hidden). Screenshot: Terminal window with Account History tab highlighted.
Step 2: Set Your Desired Date Range
Right-click anywhere inside the Account History area. From the popup menu, select “All History” for complete data, or “Last 3 Months”, “Last Month”, or “Custom Period”. Choose “Custom Period” to enter specific start and end dates. Screenshot: Right-click menu showing date filter options.
Step 3: Review Your Trade Data
The list shows every closed trade with open time, close time, symbol, type (buy/sell), volume, price, swap, profit, and comment. Screenshot: Account History table with columns labeled.
Step 4: Export Data for Equity Curve
Right-click again in the Account History area. Select “Save as Report” or “Save as Detailed Report” (depending on your MT4 version). Choose a save location (e.g., Desktop) and name the file (e.g., “MyTrades.html”). Screenshot: Save as Report dialog box.
Step 5: Generate an Equity Curve
Open the saved HTML file in your browser. You will see a detailed statement. To create an equity curve, copy the “Balance” column data into Excel or Google Sheets. Create a line chart with “Trade Number” on X-axis and “Balance” on Y-axis. That line is your equity curve. Screenshot: Excel line chart showing a rising equity curve.
