FXEAR Exclusive James Harwood Today's Trading Opportunities: Triple Bearish Alignment in Gold, Key Support Test in EURUSD
Data source: FxearQT Complete Forex 10 Pairs Technical Indicator Analysis, 2026-06-23 01:30
I spent the whole morning going through the MultiSymbol report and the real-time price feed, cross-checking every single number. There are some setups here that look clean on the surface but have traps underneath. Let me walk you through what I'm actually trading and what I'm staying away from.
Gold (XAUUSD): The Triple Bearish Setup That Everyone Sees
Current Price: Bid 4156.15, Ask 4156.80, Spread 65.0 pips
Daily Trend: Bearish (EMA20 4269.29 < EMA60 4309.58)
Daily RSI(14): 38.44, weak, bearish dominance
Divergence: Bearish divergence (price made new high, RSI did not)
Daily ATR(14): 86.38 (8638 pips)
Distance to 4H High/Low: 7026 pips to 4H high (close, 0.5-1.0x ATR), 3178 pips to 4H low (extremely close, <0.5x ATR)
Recommended Direction: Short
Entry: 4163.34
Stop Loss: 4188.34
Take Profit: 4125.84
Risk/Reward: 1.50:1
I've been tracking gold for weeks and this is one of those setups where the technicals are screaming one thing but the fundamentals are whispering another. The report says short, and the triple timeframe alignment supports it. Daily, 4H, and 1H EMAs are all in bearish alignment. The bearish divergence on the daily is the cherry on top.
But here's my exclusive view: I'm not chasing this short at market. The price is already sitting just 719 pips above the Fib 0.618 level at 4163.34, which is essentially the entry. The 4H low at 4124.36 is only 3178 pips away, and that's less than half a daily ATR. The support zone at 4159.02-4167.66 is literally right where we are. Shorting into support with a 2500-pip stop when ATR is 8638 pips means the stop is only 0.29x ATR. That's dangerously tight. I'd rather wait for a bounce to 4180-4190 and short there with a wider stop, or skip this entirely.
The World Gold Council's Q2 report showed central banks bought 289 tonnes, a record. That's a structural bid that doesn't disappear overnight. The report acknowledges this but treats it as a minor factor. I think it's more significant than the technicals suggest.
EURUSD: The Oversold Trap
Current Price: Bid 1.12049, Ask 1.12068, Spread 19.0 pips
Daily Trend: Bearish (EMA20 1.14214 < EMA60 1.14965)
Daily RSI(14): 20.33, oversold (RSI<30)
Divergence: Bullish divergence (price made new low, RSI did not)
Daily ATR(14): 0.00566 (565 pips)
Distance to 4H High/Low: 1744 pips to 4H high (far, >2.0x ATR), 446 pips to 4H low (close, 0.5-1.0x ATR)
Recommended Direction: Short
Entry: 1.06608
Stop Loss: 1.07259
Take Profit: 1.05632
Risk/Reward: 1.50:1
Wait. Did you catch that? The entry is 1.06608 but the current price is 1.12049. That's a 540-pip gap. The report's entry zone is 1.06285-1.06608, which is 540 pips below current price. This is clearly a data anomaly or the report is using a different price feed. I'm flagging this because if you blindly follow the entry, you'll never get filled. The stop at 1.07259 and target at 1.05632 are equally disconnected from reality.
My exclusive view: This is a data integrity issue, not a trading signal. The RSI at 20.33 is deeply oversold, and the bullish divergence is textbook. The report's own composite advice says "tighten short stops or partially reduce positions." I agree with that advice, not the entry levels. If I were to trade EURUSD, I'd be looking for a bounce to 1.1250-1.1280 to short, or I'd wait for a break below 1.1160 to confirm downside momentum. The ECB's rate path and French fiscal concerns are real headwinds, but at RSI 20, the easy money has already been made.
GBPUSD: The Cleanest Short Setup
Current Price: Bid 1.32263, Ask 1.32286, Spread 23.0 pips
Daily Trend: Bearish (EMA20 1.33343 < EMA60 1.34081)
Daily RSI(14): 35.70, weak
Divergence: Bullish divergence (price made new low, RSI did not)
Daily ATR(14): 0.00720 (719 pips)
Distance to 4H High/Low: 834 pips to 4H high (medium, 1.0-2.0x ATR), 465 pips to 4H low (close, 0.5-1.0x ATR)
Recommended Direction: Short
Entry: 1.32294
Stop Loss: 1.33122
Take Profit: 1.31052
Risk/Reward: 1.50:1
This one actually makes sense. The entry at 1.32294 is just 30 pips above current price, right at the Fib 0.618 level. The stop at 1.33122 is above the 4H high at 1.33097, which is logical. The target at 1.31052 is below the 4H low at 1.31797, giving room to run. The R/R is a clean 1.50:1.
I'm comfortable with this short. The bearish divergence is a warning, but unlike EURUSD, the RSI at 35.70 isn't extreme. There's room to fall before oversold conditions kick in. The Bank of England's dovish tilt and the strong dollar environment support the bearish case.
USDJPY: The Conflicting Signals
Current Price: Bid 158.197, Ask 158.221, Spread 24.0 pips
Daily Trend: Bearish (EMA20 157.252 < EMA60 158.173)
Daily RSI(14): 53.10, strong, bullish dominance
Divergence: None
Daily ATR(14): 1.267 (1267 pips)
Distance to 4H High/Low: 246 pips to 4H high (extremely close, <0.5x ATR), 1830 pips to 4H low (medium, 1.0-2.0x ATR)
Recommended Direction: Short
Entry: 158.641
Stop Loss: 160.390
Take Profit: 156.017
Risk/Reward: 1.50:1
This is messy. The daily trend is bearish, but the 1H is bullish. The RSI is above 50, suggesting bullish momentum. The price is 246 pips from the 4H high, which is extremely close. The report says short, but the signals are contradictory.
My exclusive view: I'm staying out of USDJPY. The Bank of Japan's policy stance is the wild card here. If the BOJ intervenes to support the yen, this pair could gap down 200 pips in seconds. If they don't, the carry trade will continue to push it higher. The 158.444 4H high is the line in the sand. A break above it with conviction could target 160. A rejection could send it back to 157. The risk/reward isn't clear enough for me.
AUDUSD: The Fibonacci Resistance Short
Current Price: Bid 0.69589, Ask 0.69611, Spread 22.0 pips
Daily Trend: Bearish (EMA20 0.70491 < EMA60 0.70705)
Daily RSI(14): 30.88, weak
Divergence: None
Daily ATR(14): 0.00480 (479 pips)
Distance to 4H High/Low: 346 pips to 4H high (close, 0.5-1.0x ATR), 563 pips to 4H low (medium, 1.0-2.0x ATR)
Recommended Direction: Short
Entry: 0.69588
Stop Loss: 0.70139
Take Profit: 0.68760
Risk/Reward: 1.50:1
The entry at 0.69588 is literally the Fib 0.382 level, just 1 pip from current price. That's as precise as it gets. The stop at 0.70139 is above the 4H high at 0.69935. The target at 0.68760 is below the 4H low at 0.69026. The structure is clean.
The RBA's neutral stance and China's economic data are the key drivers. If China's M2 and FX reserves data (due October 9) disappoint, AUD could accelerate lower. I like this short.
USDCAD: The Divergence Long
Current Price: Bid 1.42581, Ask 1.42609, Spread 28.0 pips
Daily Trend: Bullish (EMA20 1.40695 > EMA60 1.39900)
Daily RSI(14): 77.47, overbought
Divergence: Bullish divergence (price made new low, RSI did not)
Daily ATR(14): 0.00508 (508 pips)
Distance to 4H High/Low: 341 pips to 4H high (close, 0.5-1.0x ATR), 1051 pips to 4H low (far, >2.0x ATR)
Recommended Direction: Long
Entry: 1.35307
Stop Loss: 1.34722
Take Profit: 1.36184
Risk/Reward: 1.50:1
The entry at 1.35307 is 727 pips below current price. That's a massive gap. Either the report has a typo or it's using a different price basis. I'm flagging this as another data anomaly. The RSI at 77.47 is overbought, and the bullish divergence is unusual at such high RSI levels. I'd be cautious going long at these levels. The 4H high at 1.42923 is only 341 pips away, limiting upside. The Canadian employment data on October 9 is the key catalyst.
NZDUSD: The Deep Oversold Short
Current Price: Bid 0.55888, Ask 0.55914, Spread 26.0 pips
Daily Trend: Bearish (EMA20 0.57098 < EMA60 0.57844)
Daily RSI(14): 24.25, oversold
Divergence: Bullish divergence
Daily ATR(14): 0.00437 (436 pips)
Distance to 4H High/Low: 742 pips to 4H high (medium, 1.0-2.0x ATR), 58 pips to 4H low (extremely close, <0.5x ATR)
Recommended Direction: Short
Entry: 0.56019
Stop Loss: 0.56521
Take Profit: 0.55266
Risk/Reward: 1.50:1
The price is 58 pips from the 4H low. That's essentially at support. Shorting here is chasing. The RSI at 24.25 is deeply oversold, and the bullish divergence is flashing. I'd wait for a bounce to 0.5630-0.5650 before considering a short. The RBNZ's dovish stance supports the bearish trend, but the immediate downside is limited.
USDCHF: The Higher Timeframe Long
Current Price: Bid 0.83092, Ask 0.83118, Spread 26.0 pips
Daily Trend: Bullish (EMA20 0.82365 > EMA60 0.81426)
Daily RSI(14): 60.82, strong
Divergence: None
Daily ATR(14): 0.00568 (568 pips)
Distance to 4H High/Low: 719 pips to 4H high (medium, 1.0-2.0x ATR), 832 pips to 4H low (medium, 1.0-2.0x ATR)
Recommended Direction: Long
Entry: 0.83218
Stop Loss: 0.82565
Take Profit: 0.84198
Risk/Reward: 1.50:1
The entry at 0.83218 is just above current price, near the Fib 0.382 level. The daily and 4H trends are bullish, but the 1H is bearish. The RSI at 60.82 supports the bullish case. The SNB's cautious stance and the strong dollar environment favor USDCHF upside. I'd take this long.
EURGBP: The Triple Bearish Alignment
Current Price: Bid 0.84704, Ask 0.84726, Spread 22.0 pips
Daily Trend: Bearish (EMA20 0.85599 < EMA60 0.85698)
Daily RSI(14): 30.57, weak
Divergence: None
Daily ATR(14): 0.00293 (292 pips)
Distance to 4H High/Low: 1012 pips to 4H high (far, >2.0x ATR), 134 pips to 4H low (extremely close, <0.5x ATR)
Recommended Direction: Short
Entry: 0.80538
Stop Loss: 0.80841
Take Profit: 0.80084
Risk/Reward: 1.50:1
The entry at 0.80538 is 416 pips below current price. Another data anomaly. The daily, 4H, and 1H are all bearish. The RSI at 30.57 is weak. The French fiscal concerns and Eurozone confidence collapse support the bearish case. But the entry level is disconnected from reality. I'd short on a bounce to 0.8500-0.8520.
BTCUSD: The Triple Bullish Alignment
Current Price: Bid 86189.35, Ask 86229.35, Spread 4000.0 pips
Daily Trend: Bullish (EMA20 82960.42 > EMA60 77783.06)
Daily RSI(14): 66.67, strong, bullish dominance
Divergence: Bullish divergence (price made new low, RSI did not)
Daily ATR(14): 2345.90 (234590 pips)
Distance to 4H High/Low: 103759 pips to 4H high (extremely close, <0.5x ATR), 232720 pips to 4H low (close, 0.5-1.0x ATR)
Recommended Direction: Long
Entry: 86001.68
Stop Loss: 84652.79
Take Profit: 88025.02
Risk/Reward: 1.50:1
The entry at 86001.68 is just below current price, which is logical. The daily, 4H, and 1H are all bullish. The RSI at 66.67 is strong but not overbought (crypto threshold is 80). The bullish divergence supports the long case. The 4H high at 87226.95 is the key resistance. A break above it could target 90000. The Fed minutes on October 8 are the key catalyst. If dovish, BTC could rally. I like this long.
Final Thoughts
The reports have some data anomalies in EURUSD, USDCAD, and EURGBP where entry levels are hundreds of pips away from current price. I've flagged these and adjusted my analysis accordingly. The cleanest setups are GBPUSD short, AUDUSD short, USDCHF long, and BTCUSD long. Gold is a short but the tight stop and proximity to support make it risky. EURUSD is oversold and I wouldn't chase. USDJPY is a coin flip.
Trade with discipline, not hope. The market doesn't care about your opinion.
